The Median XL druid class is physically the weakest class in the game, but uses range and damage over time to his advantage or morphs into a fierce creature of nature.


BACKGROUND OF THE MEDIAN XL DRUID

Founded by Fiacla-Géar, the brother of the ancient barbarian king Bul-Kathos, at the twilight of the nephalem era, the druid colleges were created to centralise and safeguard all knowledge of the powers of the earth and the wild.

As deep within Arreat the Worldstone, created by Inarius to subdue humanity's powers, begun to take effect, humanity slowly but surely lost its powers over the generations. Seeing the end of their era, Fiacla-Géar and Bul-Kathos, themselves among the last of the nephalem, sought to safeguard their knowledge and wisdom during the upcoming dark era.

It is believed that Bul-Kathos was misled by Inarius' angelic appearance and vowed to protect the Worldstone with his tribe's blood. Fiacla-Géar, who was more suspicious about the crystal, was summarily exiled from the barbarian lands by an enraged Bul-Kathos. Even today, the spirit of Bul-Kathos lives on in Mount Arreat, burying trespassers with earthquakes and rockslides, unaware that he is fanatically protecting the stone that doomed humanity.

During his long exile, Fiacla-Géar learned to speak with the spirits of nature - figments of the earth itself, imbued with limited sentience and intelligence by the touch of Inarius and Lilith at Sanctuary's creation. He realised that the curse that had befallen the nephalem did not extend to all of Sanctuary. The earth was an untapped source of magic waiting for humanity to find it.

Tur Dulra and the other druidic colleges teach that humanity should follow no one, neither angelic nor demonic, but should seek the power within themselves and nature. Although the teachings are based on the lore within the druidic holy book, the Scual Fada, allegedly written by Fiacla-Géar but mysteriously in many different scripts and unknown languages, few remember their true origin. Outsiders often look down upon druids as tree huggers, but perhaps they may turn out to be the only ones who are right...

PREFERRED WEAPONS

Using the powers of nature, druids crafted many weapons out of untreated wood and stone to preserve the spirits within. To any outsider, the bows and staves are useless, being far too prone to breakage and not at all effective at channelling mana. When a druid wields such a weapon, however, their arrows mysteriously strike true over great distances and the very earth answers their call.

Although shapeshifting druids wield axes, maces, swords or daggers to symbolise the fists and spines of their wereform, the weapon is assimilated in the shapeshifting process, making the details of its design moot. For this reason, the druid circles rely on outside suppliers to provide them with these weapons.

Base cast rate increased by 25% when wielding a staff (reduced number of frames).

PREFERRED ARMOUR

After discovering his totem during his initiation ritual, a novice druid is likely to come across a dying specimen of the spirit animal in what would be an amazing coincidence if you believe in coincidence. If the animal approves of the druid, the druid ritually sacrifices the animal and consecrates the skin, enabling the animal spirit to guard the druid when he wears its furs or feathers.

Many druids have several totem animals. The most commonly seen animals are the wolf, hawk, falcon and ram. In the past, many druids attuned themselves to the feral spirits of the bear and direwolf, but this had undesirable side effects at full moon and often led to an early descent into madness or death by silver crossbow bolt.

DEVOTIONS

Druids are masters of shapeshifting, but one can enter into the animal mindset only so deep before it becomes hard to adapt to other animal minds. Alternatively, adapting a bow hunter attitude makes it hard to feel like a shapeshifted animal, making it harder to become a master shapeshifter.

You can only learn the level 1 skill of the werebear, trap rat, werewolf or bow trees if you have no points in any of the other four skill trees, and vice versa.

Effect: melee attack that unleashes a massive wave of fire
HUNGERThe sacred circle of life ever turns. Ostara, Midsummer, Mabon, Yule. Animals are born and animals die. Each death feeds the Earth, and the Earth feeds his sons.
Passive effect: steals life from an enemy in werebear form, also grants faster hit recovery, and attack rating bonus from vitality
IDOL OF SCOSGLENThe master shapeshifter absorbs the essence of the earth, summoning a protective layer of solid stone to deflect enemy weapons. The spell can only be maintained for a short time and quickly shatters with devastating force.
Effect: turn into stone, then break out of the stone, stunning enemies
TRAP RAT TREE
TRAP RAT FORMRare are the occasions when the forces of hell are outsmarted. When Baal twisted and mutated the native quill rats to giant and deadly monsters, the druids of Scosglen studied them and adopted the mutations themselves.
Effect: morph into a giant quill rat wielding a dagger
QUILL STORMCreated by Baal's fleshbender mages, this barrage of razor spines spelled the death of many adventurers and inspired the druid circles.
Effect: shoot a stream of spikes at a random nearby enemy
EGG TRAPDespite what some jokers may tell you, shapeshifters cannot reproduce in animal form. While druids of the spine are capable of laying eggs, those eggs contain only more spines and sinew under tension.
Effect: lay an egg that sprays the area with spikes when stepped on
FEROCITYNot satisfied with merely taking Baal's designs, the druids applied selective evolution to actually improve upon them, solving the known combat weakness of the trap rats, their very slow reaction time.
Passive effect: increases damage in trap rat form
THORN WALLUsing one of their more mysterious combat techniques, trap rat shapeshifters create a barrier of spines at any distance, keeping the enemy army at bay with ease.
Effect: creates a wall of spikes
WEREWOLF TREE
WEREWOLF FORMScéal Fada, first of the druids, barely survived his encounter with the Great Wolf. Once his foe was defeated, he fought for many moons to safeguard his sanity from the beast now clawing within. He emerged from this inner struggle with the knowledge to teach the form of the apex predator.
Effect: transform into a nocturnal hunter with savage melee abilities
MANA PULSEUnable to replenish spiritual energy by meditation while transformed, werewolf shapeshifters harvest it from their adversaries with primal strikes.
Effect: melee attack that harvests mana, and regenerates stamina
HARBINGERThe unparalleled speed and agility of those who are able to master the shape of the beast are legendary. Closing in great distances in a flash, werewolves deliver swift death to their enemies.
Effect: collide with prey in a surge of ravenous hunger
FEED THE PACKThe savage bite and self-restoring lacerations of the wolf are the great levelers. 'For the start of New life there must be death, be free now demons for you have paid your debt.'
Passive effect: faster attacks, slain enemies heal you and respawn as wolf allies
TWISTED CLAWElders who have mastered both the primal force of the wind and the shape of the beast are capable of summoning freezing gales with their furious attacks.
Effect: melee hit that creates a fast-hitting tornado
ELEMENTAL TREE
Ember SpiritDances and sacrifices to the volcano spirits strengthen the pact between the druid circles and this particular force of nature. In return, the fire spirits heed the druid's call in battle.
Effect: running fire spirits that leave a fiery trail, can go through enemies
HUNTING BANSHEEThese wailing spirits of winter can be heard when the wind howls through the iced caves of North Scosglen. Briefly conjured by a druid, their shriek chills enemies to the bone.
Effect: spirit chases random enemies and unleashes a frost nova
RAIN OF FIREA hail of lava bombs from a distant volcanic eruption rains down to strike the target anywhere in the world, carried by favourable winds.
Effect: rain of fire bombards target, then expands over an area
PAGAN RITESDruids believe that life is governed by a circle of life and death. Druidic burial rites are happy and cheerful, for the deceased's death will give rise to new life.
Effect: passive which increases spell damage and sacrifices corpses in flames, restoring lost life
HURRICANEBy entering a mystical trance, the master lorekeeper disturbs the local weather patterns, creating a howling storm of air that remains in the area until the druid's powers eventually fade.
Effect: press and hold button to invoke an outward blowing physically damaging wind
NATURE TREE
HARVESTTo a druid, a creature's poison glands naturally evolved over thousands of generations are superior to any of man's sorcerous attempts to magically enslave nature and use it against his enemies.
Effect: short ranged poison cloud around caster
ELVENSONGThe druid conjures a spirit of nature to sing an ancient and powerful siren song in the language of the birds and the Earthfather's creations. The elfin melody charms animals and even most twisted demons.
Effect: spirit of nature converts enemies to fight for you
INFECTED ROOTSIt is a common misconception among the uninitiated that all spirits of nature are like the charming dryads or warlike nereids. But fungi and bacteria are also among the sons of the Earthfather and have their own guardian spirits.
Effect: poisonous roots sprout up from the ground
BARKSKINThe fruits of the Glor-An-Fhaidha, the mystical tree of life, can bring back mortals from the brink of death. Aside from their healing effect on humans and other animals, the juice of the Glor-An-Fhaidha's fruits can be applied to armour, making it as hard as the bark of a thousand year tree.
Passive effect: provides a bonus to maximum life and defense
HARVESTERSThe Earthfather's mutated children emerge from their den at the calling of the archdruid. Considered a failure of creation, the creatures still fight viciously, belching corrosive acid on their enemies.
Effect: frenzied creatures with a poison splash attack which inherit the player's spell damage stats

STEADY SHOT
Effect: shoots a projectile that unleashes multiple other projectiles and grants Steady Aim
CASCADEThe spirits of the nymphs lend their arrows and bowstrings to the druid's cause, allowing one druid to keep an army at bay.
Effect: shoots arrows which rain from the sky
HEARTSEEKER
Effect: shoots multiple arrows which attack one target
PATHFINDERThe adept hunter communes with the nixes and pixies of the nature world, teachers of mystical combat techniques and weaponcraft.
Passive effect: increases elemental damage, grants deadly strike, movement speed, and elemental pierce
BEAR COMPANIONHunters are bonded to an animal at an young age. In the Druid's case, it is the mighty bear. This bond allows the bear to leverage the Druid's strengths and the bear gives back with a call strengthening the Druid.
Effect: summons a bear which inherits the druid's damage stats

UBERSKILLS

You may choose a single uberskill at character level 90 and above.

This Guide is Based on a Basic Skill Trap Rat + gear..
trap Rats to me are Amazing Farmers and charm Colectors and are fun with different gear!
Same as all guides depends on items to where you can farm! but even the most basic Trap Rat druid can farm most places with ease!
i will add short videos as i go when i have time showing with basic gear and simple skills u can do alot of charms so easy, even if just making to collect for another char you have.
I will edit Post as i have time with Better pics and videos.

Strength - ENOUGH FOR GEAR ONLY
Dexterity - ALL REMAINING

Even though its Really easy to gain max block on traprat with charms and basic gear and some gems, still always put in dex as it contributes to Def which is important , Remeber to Eat 500 sigs! to get the max stats for better performance on those harder places!

ELFIN WEAPONS - You need to total ur current CB with ur items on and with 1 skill here and see how much you need to 100% CB, 100% CB is important to try and max , it is easy done dont forget [color=red]TRAP RAT FORM add's CB highlight skill and see how much it add to cb! at end normally 1-2 skills is enough to max here, more then 100% CB is useless.[/color]

PAGAN RITES - 1 point (but is a very hand skill to max ur life when on low, i always hotkey this as it saves ur ass everywhere! no more then 1 skill in this is needed!
alot of people use [color=green]Summon Acid fiends in this guide i am not as i dont use, because these are rubbish unless few skills added in and they die easy but do add nice bonus's! ele dmg ect, but means using 5 skills to get it which later on with +max skill items means you need those extra spare skills to put into your tree as above[/color]
Once you have Enough craft points - and you have Berry and def berry Make the following Recipe - Perfect Saphire + TP scroll makes Elexir or Power(15 All skills)
then +12 dudu staff on switch, once hit pot use berry gives Big life/def buff, repeat each time you need to berry

i will start with Low level Start gear Tier uniqes and so on
Weapon - TU Blade if you have plenty of crystals try rolling for Double Orb Effect once T6. once you got double orb once you can farm legacy of blood charm then do lucky upg with charm for ignore targets defence,
Low lvl req also, plenty of space to add orbs. get it to 350% ED upto you what you put as rest of orb, but i use MAX dmg and some CB orbs.
you can socket with perfect rainbow gems for more Crush blow or Perfect rubys for life after kill
Helm - there are a few choices here, you can use Grim Spirit dud helm which you get from gift box from tristram, or you can use Sky Guard which has DR % on it which is Very helpful. i will use Sky Guard as example for pic.
when socketing go for Perfect Amethsts to hlp get that max block and def and dmg
MedianUse this as main helm until you get to mid game gear, Marco reminded me about this helm,
same as normal, make base helm (doesnt have to be sacred base but better def) make to superior and use renewal pot untill 50+ed base, then use lcuky pot for more def then mo as you wish, best going for ed def mo's but i am posting pic as base only withoiut jewels and mo's! but make 4 sox and roll nice jewels to put in ect!

Armor - Ofc Jitans mass ele dmg DR ect
also socket with Perfect Amethsts
Shield - there are a few different shields you can go for here to start and diff people will have different opinions, but for example i will use RAZOR DISK as add alot of dmg ect, here you can add diff things in, io's help alot for DEX for block, or Perfect Turqoise for 25% magic find,
Belt - Dead Fall, this will be your belt all the way through. shower of rocks on kill, mass str and Crush blow ect
add perfect Amethsts for Dex
Gloves - i will use Feather Claw as expample, but Horrific T1 gloves work good with dex,reis(makes 60all reis), couple of reanimates works well orb as you go
Boots - Here i use Death spur for str dex and max dmg on lvl with 4 perfect amethsts in works well, you can use lion paw here or horrific also ,
Rings - Use Emp bands here, Easy find, and can be made with the 2 arcane crystals recipe few rolls and go for 5% add Dex mo's this helps alot towards max block ect,
Amu - Here i can only give stats of needed untill i get pic uploaded as i muted my amu by accident and made into a berry when orbing
Basically to start untill u get to end game gear get a rare amu and use dragon roll in a2 roll untill you get +3 skills and Doom on kill enemy, then try for lucky up, dont worry to much if you dont get lucky up as u can roll another anytime. orb with Dex and thunder hammer, try to max thunder hammer orb. (15 orbs)(+30 lvl)
Switch - Roll a rare druid staff or make Thai runeword staff for switch buff for berry's and mark of the wild
with the items above, you char should be EASY able to get the basic charms:

with set you should be able to get the charms you struggled with earlier still only the basic charms, not laz,kab ect.
keep same rings unless on you way through farming you come accross Der Nebel Ring , Bad Mood Ring , or Rapture Ring
using set while farming with the mass reanimates of RatFink , your char just walks farming places as your ratfinks will chase the target being a distraction for you to kill them and collect drops.
for those who dont know what ratfink is:

These little rats dont make a massive amount of damage on your enemys but they do a bit and cannot be killed, they dont last for ever they die off within a few minutes but with hugh % reanimate you wont even notice odd 1's dieing off.

End Game Gear :
There are a few diff items for end game gear, depending on you liking, i will explain next to each item why this item is good, and al say which i use,
Armors
Hratlis Craft - High Dex, 500CP for making pots (untill you do dragon quest on CC) and high magic find % , DR
Natasha Armor - VERY endgame as takes alot of farming and trading to make but roll till high stats - 20% Damage Reduced, -50 elemental reis ect ignore target Def (newest patch doesn't allow Ultra runes to be removed form items)
Jitans Armor Tier 6 - Mass ele dmg and comes in handy for farming alot of places also has 10% DR - i use this most of time for Fautz tran ect until i got natasha,
Helms

Augurs dudu helm - Awsome helm casts BloodLust on kill of enemy and good stats
Metal Head - Ignore Targets Defence - life on striking which works on quills - re animates - lightning dmg - total char def = i used this till i got natashaMedian
Goat Lord - Pentagram when kill enemy is very nice and queit powerful - increase life, absorb , re animate.
Sky Spirit (pic soon) . Once you see stats you will see why!
Weapons
Sssu Kriss - Claw Tornado Cleans Fautz within minutes brilliant item if you can get i use this for fautz,
Qor Runeword - Mass ele dmg +life + reis the best main item for farming
On this you need to make the following base : keep rolling till you get the Double orb base from the Sha'adz mo, untill you get 50+ ed base, as soon as you get the double orb base, then straight away use the lucky pot to make more ed, once this is done you need to get the ed to 350%ed base using the 15%ed mo's.
this is how you base can be, but aslong as you get the 350% ed base is the main thing, this MUST be done before making the runeword! dont go over 20% char lvl req from mo's. as the rune requires lvl 100 base, +20 from mo's gives max 120% req!
find best jewels you can, chice is yours i use 1 demonstorm jewel and random rare jewel in mine on this pic:
roll till you get around or OVER 1k dmg, this is just random i made.
Wizard Spike (sssu blade) - Death blossom when enemy slain and +1% block helps alot , skill , 100% FHR , dmg , -enemy fire reis
Frost Needle, GLACIAL nova on kill, wipes out and freezes remaining very powerful and nice stats.

Ahrim (ghal belt) - Nice stats, ele dmg reis and attributies
stats varie so roll till good attributies and all reis
Lillith belt - for farming chars +200 mf +2 lum makes it to 240% mf if your char lacks mf
Boots
Life Crushers - with dudu skills on good rolls, Crush blow , life after kill + (find with +1 dudu)
Gregs Boots (all is one) with other part(belt or gloves) 2 parts give Wolf Stance! amazing kill speed and run/walf speed and fhr!
Qor boots - Farming with these is awsome for reanimates, and the reanimates max your reis with there aura, but highly laggy

Shamanka bloodlust staff if you dont use augurs for buff, BL helps alot with ele dmg but has to be cast often,
get as high blood lust as you can, i think 16 is highest on here
Su Flamen + skills for prebuff berrys
Ssu Gnarled staff(Azgars) best staff for buff, high skills and Mark of the wild Buff!

4 skill Doom amu works well with good stats and doom helps wipe places out,
Klaatu - skill , Psn dmg , lightning dmg , reis , 50% dmg to necrobots(fautz)
Dyers Eve - TimeStike on striking , skill , dmg, reis, 5% damage reduced. (best by far)

Bad mood ring (hard t get but if you can use it)
Der Nebel Ring - 5% DR , life after each kill , Def, life i used 1 of these to max my Damage reduced
Rapture ring , 5% dr Rapture skill ect! and i used 1 of these!

Quov Tsin - Hard As traprat, very slow but is doable with stacked max reis and base reis!
Belial - Hard, mass summons, easy to kill summons but belials easy rape you

Death Projector - Very Easy
azmodan - TrapVery Easy! tele over wall and kill azmodan with spike wall! then kill his remaining monsters while u collect charm
Akarat charm - Easy
Spirit trance herb - Very Easy
Laz - Havent Attempted.
Vizjun - Tricky Speed is everything here, since nerfed druid need speed ++
Toraja - Tricky , aslong as you keep summons edrum and removing reis u can tank easy

khalmigrad - Easy but watchout for lanterns as they cant be killed, and the totems that cast multiple punisher, your life goes to 0 FAST
